Job Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant Social Sciences field
- Postgraduate degree in a relevant Social Sciences field
- Familiarity with the World Bank's social safeguard policies is advantageous
- Additional professional training related to the field is beneficial
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite is required
- A minimum of ten (10) years of proven professional experience
- Specific expertise of at least seven (7) years in social safeguards related to public infrastructure projects
- Experience in reviewing and implementing Environmental and Social Management Framework (ESMF), Environmental and Social Management Plan (ESMP), Environmental and Social Impact Assessments (ESIAs), Resettlement Planning Framework (RPF), and Resettlement Action Plans (RAPs) for public infrastructure projects
- Comprehensive understanding of Kenyan social, land, and resettlement laws & regulations, as well as World Bank social safeguard operating policies
- Experience in developing and executing Vulnerable and Marginalized Groups Plans and Frameworks for public infrastructure projects
- Minimum of five (5) years of working knowledge of Kenyan social, land, and resettlement laws & regulations, and World Bank social safeguard operating policies
- Specific experience in conducting at least two (2) Social Assessments and preparing at least two (2) Vulnerable and Marginalized Groups Frameworks based on the World Bank’s Operational Policy 4
10 (Indigenous Peoples – IPs)
- Experience with at least two (2) public investments or infrastructure projects involving land acquisition and relocation/resettlement of Project Affected Persons (PAPs)
- Leadership role in preparing at least one (1) Resettlement Action Plan based on the World Bank's Operation Policy 4
12 (Involuntary Resettlement)
- Demonstrated experience in addressing Gender-Based Violence (GBV), Labor Influx risk management, conflict resolution, grievance handling mechanisms, and reporting
- Proven track record in preparing World Bank’s social and environmental safeguards, as well as social sustainability documents
