Administration

Job Responsibilities

  • Payment Verification:

    • Verify payment vouchers in accordance with established rules and regulations

  • Section Leadership:

    • Head a specific section within the Finance Department

  • Accounts Preparation:

    • Prepare final accounts for the University

  • Payment Approval:

    • Approve payments and validate payment data before inputting into the system to ensure accuracy

  • Staff Supervision:

    • Supervise staff within the section

    • Conduct staff appraisals to evaluate performance and identify training needs for capacity building

  • External Audit Coordination:

    • Address queries from external auditors regarding financial statements

  • Accounting Reporting Framework:

    • Ensure a quality accounting reporting framework for the proper preparation of financial statements and annual reports

  • Regulatory Knowledge:

    • Maintain thorough knowledge of the Public Finance Management Act, 2012 (Regulations, 2015), Public Procurement and Asset Disposal Act, 2015, local taxation laws, and all other laws governing financial management and reporting

  • Job Qualifications

  • Educational Qualifications:

    • Master’s degree in a relevant field

    • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field from a recognized university

  • Professional Certification:

    • CPA (K) certification

  • Experience:

    • Nine (9) years of relevant experience, with at least three (3) years at Accountant II Grade 11

  • Integrity:

    • Demonstrated unquestionable integrity

  • Technical Skills:

    • Certificate in proficiency in the application of ERP systems for transaction processing

  • Regulatory Knowledge:

    • Knowledge of the Public Finance Management Act, 2012 (Regulations, 2015), Public Procurement and Asset Disposal Act, 2015, local taxation laws, and all other laws governing financial management and reporting
