secThe appointed individual will be tasked with ensuring the consistent and reliable delivery of electrical energy by effectively dispatching generation as per the established plan to consumers at all times. They will also be responsible for upholding the commercial and technical commitments of the Transmission System Operator (TSO).
i) Overseeing system operations throughout the shift
ii) Monitoring and reporting equipment loading and system alarms, taking necessary actions as required
iii) Ensuring prompt resolution of system breakdowns and immediate response to emergencies
iv) Notifying the SCADA supervisor of any faulty equipment or SCADA/EMS malfunctions during the shift
v) Enforcing adherence to the generation dispatch plan
vi) Assessing the impact of system disturbances on dispatch and making adjustments as needed
vii) Conducting system studies, simulations, and contingency analyses, and recommending corrective measures as necessary during the shift
viii) Maintaining comprehensive records and data (such as ELOA, EPTW, handover notes, and log sheets) throughout the shift
ix) Reporting any incidents or events occurring during the shift to relevant departments, agencies, and management
x) Reviewing shift reports, including handover notes, executive briefs, and disturbance reports
xi) Ensuring the update of Load Shedding and Under Frequency files
xii) Ensuring all planned and forced outages are properly documented in the Electrical Asset Management System
i) Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field of Electrical Engineering
ii) Registration with the Engineers Board of Kenya (EBK)
iii) Membership in the Institution of Engineers of Kenya (IEK)
iv) Completion of a Supervisory Skills Development Course lasting at least two (2) weeks
v) At least six (6) years of pertinent work experience
