Job Description

The Kenya Medical Research Institute, in collaboration with partners, conducts research in various areas including Malaria, HIV, TB, and other diseases. The HIV Research Division, in partnership with the World Health Organization (WHO), plans to conduct a study to evaluate the Samba II HIV-1 Semi-Q whole blood Test for WHO Prequalification Assessment. Below is a vacancy available for this study:

Job Responsibilities

The responsibilities for this vacancy include:

  • Recruiting study participants

  • Obtaining informed consent from study participants

  • Conducting finger prick procedures and performing testing using rapid test devices

  • Accurately and completely filling out study forms

  • Entering data into logbooks, diaries, and computer databases

  • Organizing collected data and conducting basic analysis

  • Communicating field-related matters to the supervisor

  • Attending study meetings and providing progress reports on work

  • Fulfilling any other duties assigned or delegated by the study management

Job Qualifications

To qualify:

  • Possess a KCSE mean grade of D+ or higher, or its equivalent from an accredited institution

  • Hold a certificate in HIV Testing Services (HTS)

  • Reside in the study area, Kisumu County

  • Demonstrate fluency in both written and spoken English and Swahili

  • Have proficiency in computer applications
