Job Description

Terms of Service: Permanent and Pensionable.

Job Responsibilities

The officer's duties and responsibilities will include:

i) Creating and executing policies and strategies for the KMFRI Graduate School

ii) Supervising the development of Information Education Communication (IEC) materials

iii) Collaborating with experts to create training materials for targeted sectors

iv) Scheduling, linking, and coordinating the integration of soft skills training and capacity development offered by various partners, while liaising with expert departments to provide relevant training to staff and stakeholders

v) Initiating and executing capacity development initiatives at regional, sub-regional, or national levels

vi) Coordinating awareness programs

vii) Securing resources needed for implementing the KMFRI Graduate School Programme activities

viii) Managing the development and review of Graduate School curricula

ix) Monitoring and evaluating training curricula

x) Identifying key partners, resource persons, and experts in different fields to support the KMFRI Graduate School Programme implementation

xi) Documenting compelling stories and case studies

xii) Developing training criteria, qualifications, schedules, specialized courses, modules, and certification of courses

xiii) Establishing and maintaining a research database for curriculum development and review purposes

xiv) Creating tools to monitor and evaluate the impact of capacity-building initiatives

xv) Devising strategies for ensuring the sustainability and reliability of the capacity-building initiative

Job Qualifications

To qualify for this position, candidates should meet the following requirements:

i) Possess a minimum of ten (10) years of relevant work experience, with at least three (3) years in a managerial capacity in either the public or private sector

ii) Hold a Bachelor’s Degree in any of the following disciplines: Aquatic or Fisheries Sciences, Biological or Physical Sciences, Natural Resources Management, Environmental Studies, Geology, Sociology, Economics, Anthropology, Bio-statistics, Marine Engineering, Biometrics, Biotechnology, or any other related field from a recognized institution

iii) Hold a Master’s Degree in any of the disciplines mentioned above or its equivalent qualification from a recognized institution

iv) Complete a management course lasting no less than four (4) weeks from a recognized institution

v) Demonstrate proficiency in computer applications

vi) Exhibit a track record of good performance in previous roles

vii) Fulfill the requirements outlined in Chapter Six of the Constitution
