secWe're looking for a highly motivated and skilled Carbon Project Developer to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in environmental science, project management, and sustainability. As a Carbon Project Developer, you'll be instrumental in identifying, developing, and implementing projects aimed at reducing carbon emissions and promoting sustainable practices.
Our platform, SunCulture, is a proprietary climate-tech solution that transitions African farmers from carbon-emitting diesel and petrol fuel pumps to solar-powered irrigation, thereby reducing carbon dioxide emissions. This role primarily involves providing support in the country as the lead contact for carbon-related activities, coordinating and managing regular carbon initiatives in Uganda. You'll work closely with our carbon leadership teams based in Kenya, collaborating on activities and ensuring alignment to establish seamless coordination of outputs and deliverables towards the successful implementation of our carbon program.
- Coordinate the carbon development process in Uganda
- Lead logistics activities related to field operations, including data acquisition and grievance redress from sales
- Stay updated on relevant environmental regulations and compliance standards
- Manage and organize in-country workshops
- Coordinate with SunCulture Kenya to establish verification and validation processes for carbon
- Develop project plans, including timelines, budgets, and resource requirements, in collaboration with the Head of Carbon
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment with organizational goals
- Support carbon accounting by implementing new methodologies
- Assist in outreach to local communities for the development of a carbon consultative framework (Local Stakeholder Consultation - LSC)
- Manage the carbon grievance redress mechanism in the country
- Lead in-country carbon operations in Uganda in coordination with the carbon operations lead
- Develop monitoring systems to track project progress and outcomes
- Prepare regular reports for internal and external stakeholders, highlighting achievements and challenges
- Participate in virtual meetings of the carbon committee
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, or a related field
- Minimum of 3 years of demonstrated experience in project management, with a focus on carbon reduction and sustainability
- Familiarity with the carbon project development lifecycle
- Proficiency in carbon accounting methodologies and knowledge of environmental regulations
- Ability to adapt and thrive in a fast-paced environment
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Capacity to work effectively in cross-functional teams
- Proven ability to manage budgets and financial resources efficiently
