Job Description

Equity Investment Bank stands as a prominent provider of brokerage, asset, and wealth management solutions. Our offerings span across retail and institutional investment banking, accessible through a network of over 200 branches throughout Kenya as well as online banking channels. Presently, we are seeking a qualified candidate to assume the position of Finance Manager. We require an adept Finance Manager with extensive experience to lead our finance department, focusing on financial reporting, budgeting, performance analysis, and fostering sustainable value creation. The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in establishing and executing robust processes for performance monitoring and reporting, while also delivering insightful recommendations for enhancement based on thorough analytical assessments.

Job Responsibilities

· Financial Reporting


- Oversee the preparation of weekly management performance reports

- Manage the compilation of monthly, quarterly, and annual statutory reports for submission to regulatory bodies such as CMA and CBK, while ensuring alignment with Group reporting formats

- Supervise GL reconciliations conducted by user departments and support in resolving reconciliation discrepancies

- Coordinate the preparation of quarterly and annual reports for the Board

- Manage the publication of financial statements for both Half Year and Full Year results

- Ensure accurate and timely tax filing, collaborating with the Group tax team to optimize tax strategies and address tax-related issues

- Facilitate internal and external audit processes and address audit findings effectively


· Performance Reporting and Analysis


- Collaborate with business teams to develop annual budgets and periodic short-term forecasts

- Generate business performance reports and conduct analyses to provide insights on key performance indicators (KPIs)

- Synthesize performance trends and conduct peer reviews, identifying opportunities for performance enhancement

- Prepare reports in a clear, concise, and visually engaging manner

- Innovate methods for data extraction, management, and analysis to enhance reporting capabilities


· Business Operations


- Partner with the leadership team to formulate business strategies, roadmaps, and objectives

- Provide support in developing performance forecasts and targets for business initiatives through scenario modeling

- Conduct research to inform strategic and business planning across various business units

- Analyze research data and develop integrated business analyses and projections to support strategic decision-making

- Utilize available data and digital tools to address business challenges effectively

- Proactively identify opportunities to automate, simplify, and standardize systems, procedures, and processes

Job Qualifications

- Demonstrated minimum 4 years of supervisory experience in investment banking, wealth management, or collective investment scheme sector

- Proficiency in MS PowerPoint, MS Excel, and ERP software at an advanced level

- Strong analytical and numerical skills with meticulous attention to detail

- Comprehensive understanding of financial management and accounting practices

- Experience in managing intricate data models

- Thorough knowledge of International Accounting Standards (IASs) and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRSs)

- Effective time management skills with a focus on meeting deadlines

- Results-oriented mindset with a commitment to delivering high-quality work

- Capacity to handle multiple tasks and projects concurrently

- Direct and clear communication style with a proactive attitude

- Adaptability and readiness to undertake diverse responsibilities in a startup environment beyond the defined role

- Commitment to maintaining confidentiality

- Ability to remain composed and professional in high-pressure situations with a high tolerance for ambiguity

- Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance, or a related field

- Additional certifications such as CPA, ACCA, CIMA, CFA, or CISI, and membership in ICPAK (Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya)
