secThe candidate will be responsible for tracking ALL components undergoing repair, ensuring their timely return, and preventing any loss in coordination with the Supply Chain team. This role involves consistently monitoring ALL orders initiated by the procurement team, tracking their progress, and ensuring no components are lost. The target is to maintain an average repair Turnaround Time (TAT) of 45 days to avoid unnecessary expenditure and financial losses for the business. Additionally, the candidate will provide feedback with data on root causes and propose solutions to management to prevent recurrence and enhance cost control measures.
Principal Accountabilities (Responsibilities):
Component Repair Management:
- Ensure components sent to external suppliers are repaired at optimized cost, turnaround time, and quality
- Review all supplier repair quotes, challenge or recommend adjustments as necessary
- Ensure shortest possible turnaround time for components from shop, with a target of 45 days
- Track and manage all repair orders to prevent component loss and failure to follow up on return of repair units
- Monitor and control the component repair management cycle
- Implement Material Management vision, strategy, policies, processes, and procedures
- Perform data analysis to guide decisions on materials repair strategy
- Manage component life cycle through repair management
- Track and manage all repair components to ensure timely redelivery of core units
- Monitor repair orders, prioritize units with short turnaround times or high cost, coordinate with supply chain team for timely return of core units
- Evaluate analytics and operational reports for performance improvement
- Propose solutions and implement corrective actions for KPI improvement
- Ensure compliance with health and safety culture and internal policies
- Review invoices and validate charges for repair services
- Supervise, coach, and develop a high-performing team
- Set sectional objectives/KPIs and assess ongoing performance of direct reports
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to manage component movement
- Develop and maintain effective relationships with internal and external customers, regulatory bodies, and suppliers
- Liaise with stakeholders on repair components requests and deviations
- Support new business initiatives and projects
- Contribute to budget development and forecasts for component repair costs
- Prepare management reports to support decisions
- Work closely with vendors to negotiate pricing, quality assurance, and timely delivery
- Actively seek opportunities for process improvement and efficiency
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations
- Embrace and ensure a health and safety culture within the working environment
- Ensure compliance with Material Management Procedures and relevant regulations
- Participate in continuous process improvement initiatives for Inventory Management
- Ensure compliance with regulations, industry standards, and contractual agreements governing component repair operations
Qualification (Minimum):
- University degree in Engineering or Procurement/Supply Chain Management with 5 years of experience, including 3 years in material management
- Strong IT systems knowledge and advanced Excel skills
- Experience in material cost control role, ensuring smooth material supply in line with maintenance requirements and budget, preferably in aviation or manufacturing
- Experience in contract management and knowledge of inventory management
- Completion of Aircraft Systems or Familiarization course
- Advanced understanding of materials management data and systems
- Knowledge of aircraft components/parts
- Ability to read, understand, and interpret approved maintenance documentation such as IPC, RSPL, AMM, SBs, etc
- Familiarity with lean techniques
- Knowledge of aircraft parts airworthiness certification (EASA, FAA), KCAA, and customs regulations relevant to aircraft parts; understanding of IAT resolutions and industry rules is desirable
- Membership of an appropriate professional body
- 5 years of experience in Material Management
