Job Responsibilities

Core Duties & Responsibilities

Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E)
  • Establish an M&E system and strategy, including design, data collection, analysis, and reporting

  • Design databases, prepare, and compile reports for ATO Coordinator approval

  • Support activities related to evidence-based planning and M&E

  • Track and analyze progress towards agreed outputs in line with the monitoring framework

  • Provide technical support in planning, programming, monitoring, and evaluation of the agricultural sector

  • Engage stakeholders to secure buy-in and authority on roles, responsibilities, and scope

  • Identify specific, measurable priorities with detailed M&E frameworks and accountability mechanisms

Knowledge Management
  • Develop knowledge and information management tools for ATO

  • Design and manage information and knowledge management systems for knowledge creation, sharing, and application

  • Develop a communication strategy for internal and external use

  • Facilitate and coordinate knowledge-sharing activities at national and county levels

  • Support learning events, workshops, and dissemination of publications

  • Promote collaborative tools for idea and work sharing among teams and partners

  • Establish and maintain linkages focusing on knowledge information management with relevant state departments

Resource Mobilization
  • Maintain a network of stakeholder contacts and ensure transparent information sharing

  • Work with development partners to identify support areas for projects and programs

  • Assist in preparing project proposals for funding

  • Support the establishment of linkages and coordination of agricultural and related institutions and projects

  • Organize sector reviews, meetings, workshops, and forums for stakeholders

  • Prepare periodic reports and updates on pertinent issues

  • Coordinate the development of the Agriculture Trends and Outlook Report (ATOR) and the Biennial Review (BR) report


Job Qualifications

Person Specification

  • Bachelor's degree in Agricultural Sciences, Biological Sciences, Chemical Sciences, Economics, or an equivalent field from a recognized university

  • Master's degree in Agricultural Sciences, Business Administration, Economics, Project Management, or related fields

  • At least seven (7) years of relevant experience in the agricultural sector, with three (3) years at a senior management level in a comparable institution

  • Understanding of trade, financial management, corporate governance, and quality assurance of agricultural inputs and produce

  • Strategic leadership and management skills

  • Ability to develop and implement performance management systems and provide candid performance feedback

  • Demonstrable results in work performance

  • Proficiency in computer applications

  • Compliance with Chapter 6 of the Constitution of Kenya

  • Strong leadership, strategic thinking, interpersonal, analytical, negotiation, report writing, problem-solving, and communication skills
